IPad 2, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE and AirPlay aspect question.

Have MrMC feature question regarding iOS version of MrMC.

Can one 'mirror' the MrMC display to an AppleTV 4 in full 16x9 aspect?, and is the playback acceptable frame rate wise?. (Decent playback in other words?)

I only have an iPad 3, so no MrMC on my device :( . So am looking at either iPad Air 2, iPhone 6s, or the iPhone SE. (Favorite being the small SE)

I was wondering if I had Bluetooth keyboard case for iPhone SE, and then installed MrMC, could I then AirPlay mirror the entire display to the AppleTV 4?. The expectation being that with physical cursor controls on the iPhone SE, it makes a cool remote control, with the AppleTV 4 the display.

Alternatively, would it be possible to add a feature to MrMC, to allow another instance of Kodi running, become a display target (renderer) for content playing from MrMC on the I Device?.
(Eg. Like the right context menu option 'play using' in Kodi, but have feature where all content is streamed to the target device by default)

Why not install MrMC on the AppleTV then use the normal kodi iOS remote to control it ?

Why not have both options available.?

ie. I already have MrMC on my AppleTV 4, tho I prefer to use my Logitech remote control, as I find it far more usable for Mediacenter type usage.

Really my inquiry is more for cool factor. One must find reasons to purchase new Apple toys you know.
Can you think of a better reason to buy an idevice, than to install MrMC Touch on it? :) .

And with MrMC Touch installed on an idevice, would one not want to try out AirPlay Mirroring with our favourite Mediacenter software. (Am speaking of your software here)

I am surprised that no one else has asked this question, nor tried AirPlay Mirroring with MrMC Touch.
Enquiring minds wonder, does it work, or does it completely suck?

I did manage to sideload Kodi 17 nighty build onto my iPad3. Movie playback worked really well, but not so good for PVR. (Wifi not MIMO I guess on my iPad 3, so not quite up to the task)
I then enabled AirPlay Mirroring, and it worked pretty well considering, but with one major issue on my iPad, and that was the aspect, and that everything including MrMC was in 4x3.

I found out that with AirPlay Mirroring active, Kodi see's the AppleTV4 as a second display, so you can have Kodi display on AppleTV, and the iPad display becomes a control interface.
It works pretty good, excellent image quality, but on my ipad3, stutter slowly creeps in.
Also, seemingly using AppleTV4 as second display limits the resolution to 720p, tho one does get a full 16.9 display.

So, I wonder if later generation I devices like the iPad 2 Air, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, with their much faster processing, and faster WiFi can achieve perfect AirPlay Mirroring in 16x9, as my ipad3 is generations behind the current product lineup.

Just wondering, that's all.

if it works under Kodi, it will work with MrMC. All this happens outside of the App itself.

As far as MrMC sending rendering to another instance of MrMC. Sorry but much to complicated to handle and I think the general use case would be very small. There are other features like native plex that a large amount of users want to see.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Would be interesting to see if AirPlay mirror is much improved in newer I devices like the iPhone 6s, where MIMO enabled WiFi allows high thruput.

For example, on my MIMO enabled router, my AppleTV 4 reports thruput close to Apples theoretical thruput of 866mbits over AC wifi. I was intrigued to see how AirPlay might perform on latest hardware, hence the reason for the post.

Plex looks nice, but basically that is why I purchased MrMC to begin with, as Plex on my AppleTV really allowed me to do very little of what interests me. (PVR)

Cheers for the feedback.
