Is DTSHD and TRUEHD decoded as PCM? and is it basically an hd lossless pcm that is sent to the receiver since the receiver is not displaying the truehd/dts symbol?

Correct, All tvOS apps can only send multichannel PCM.

DTSHD and TRUEHD are decoded and sent as multichannel PCM.

But is that PCM stream coming from ATV4K a lossless stream that is the same as the DTSHD or TRUEHD or is it a downgraded stream similar to Dolby digital. Will there be a difference in sound between that PCM stream and DTSHD/TRUEHD?

Excellent! thanks. Is there a section I can go to so I can find the exact settings I need to set for both mrmc and atv4k?

Out of curiosity, how does infuse handles HD audio differently from MrMC if at all?

infuse can only play video media. It has no capability for music or pictures.

Same method is used by both apps, the HD lossless track is decoded and sent as PCM.

I doubted so but was asking myself why infuse needs to license DTS etc. and MrMC/Kodi not, or do they?
