I currently have MRMC and XBMC 13 on my Fire TV Gen 1 box. With XBMC I can connect to my SMB and add the movies I have stored to the library. But when I try to connect on MRMC it shows the workgroup, then when I click it, it does nothing.
It does however, allow me to connect using the media server on my network, but I can't add the movies to the library that way.
Is there something I'm doing wrong to get it to connect via smb?
I noticed on the XBMC there are two different SMB options to choose from, and it's the one that displays as "SMB\\" that I use. But on MRMC it appears differently.
Any tips? Otherwise I'll stick with the old XBMC 13 that works. Just thought I'd use something new while supporting the developers by buying the app on Amazon.
Thanks
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back

Re: SMB not Connecting
are you using the latest version of MrMC? 3.0.0 just rolled out yesterday. It has some SMB fixes.

Re: SMB not Connecting
debuglog might show more info.
there are three ways to connect, browsing (two ways) and direct url.
1) browsing:
A) hit the browse when adding a source. Then select the SMB item. That should take you to the default workgroup (call 'WORKGROUP'), then select on this takes you to a list of servers. Browsing relies on the client (mrmc) being able to send a broadcast packet which local smb servers respond to. If you are wifi and have a bridge to wired where your smb server lives, netbios packets must be enabled to pass over the bridge.
B) browsing via zeroconfig. If your SMB server supports zeroconfig, it will send out special packets describing where it lives (ip address/port). The zeroconfig client (mrmc) uses this to populate a SMB server list.
2) Direct URL:
In the add source dialog, enter smb://ip address, that should take you there.
These methods are very similar to how kodi 16/17 work -> http://kodi.wiki/view/Adding_video_sour ... te_sources
There is also libDSM which is a different SMB client that is only supported via zeroconfig.

Re: SMB not Connecting
That fixed it, thanks! now the only issue I have is fast forward doesn't work very well compared to XBMC 13. It also took me awhile to figure out how to get the dts passthru to work, but I got it figured out after some experimenting.cosmoxl wrote:are you using the latest version of MrMC? 3.0.0 just rolled out yesterday. I'll have to try out more of the features on this when I have more time, like actually importing the library and also the skin options. I don't need all the add-on's that Kodi has and the only one I used with XBMC is Pandoki anyway.
thanks again,
