The big thing to remember about a native MrMC skin is that we are not just for AppleTV4. We also run on FireOS (FireTV and friends) and possibly more AndroidTV type devices in the future. So as we work on this new skin, we think, how well does it fit in all the above platform situations.

Ideally we steal ideas from all :) Foremost is the 'simplicity' concept. Most all existing XBMC/Kodi skins try to support everything under the sun regarding access to the various options and settings.

PS. If you see missing 'v's in my text, the 'v' key is dying on my MacBook Pro. First hw issue I've had on Apple products since I started with an SE30 back in the late 80's :).
