Use Specific Plex Libraries

Post by floridajay »

This may be a dumb question because I'm pretty new to Plex. Is there a way to select only certain Plex Libraries to use with a MrMC installation? It seems to default to all of the plex libraries for the given server. I could't find a way to delete individual libraries like you can for normal sources. For example one might want to setup one FireTV that would only have kids stuff and other FireTVs that had all or different libraries. Please let me know if there is anyway to achieve this. Thanks.

Do this on the Plex server. Set up a plex user for kids, then you can control exactly what can be seen under the kids account. This is why we support multiple users assigned to a single plex account.

Thanks for the great suggestion. It does exactly what I need. One thing I did notice was that if there is only one movie plex library on the server or you have only shared one movie library, the Plex library name doesn't show up when you navigate to the Movies menu. You can still see and play the movies you just can't see the library name (i.e. Plex(S) - OpenELEC - Movies Kids). As soon as you have more than one library the list of libraries re-appear. I don't know if that is the way it is supposed to be, but it did confuse me when I didn't see any library names but there were still movies available to play. BTW it works the same for TV Shows, you need more than one TV library for any plex TV libraries show up. Thanks.

yes, that's by design. it just did not make sense to present a one-line widow for users to jump through if they only have one plex library showing.
