Fireos 5.2.1.1
Mr MC Build 2.6 Git: 2016-09-11-311387f

I have an old version of Kodi (16.0) sideloaded on the same box and it works fine.
known issue and fixed for pending 2.6.4 version.

Yep, just fired up MrMC this evening and there has been an update which appears to have sorted out the problem - good work!

Well, I just woke up this morning to find the new update installed, and it's completely broken Dolby Digital passthrough on my Fire TV 2. All I get now is choppy digital static, sounds kind of like a lawn sprinkler. It doesn't appear to simply be misidentified as PCM (as is common with DTS), as my TV still reports it as Dolby Digital when passthrough is enabled - but the audio itself is garbage. This happens both with native Dolby Digital soundtracks as well as AAC or DTS when transcoding to Dolby Digital is enabled. It appears to be bit rate independent, as it happens with both 640 kb/s and 384 kb/s Dolby Digital soundtracks.

One other more trivial bug I discovered:

With passthrough enabled, Volume and Volume Amplification sliders should be disabled. In fact, they each allow one adjustment and are only then disabled.

I'll try to grab logs later today if needed, but figured I'd post this ASAP to see if anyone else is affected.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to grab logs yet, but my hardware setup is painfully simple: Fire TV 2 connected via HDMI directly to a Toshiba brand (manufacturered by Compal for Best Buy) 43L420U 43" class (42.5") LCD TV.

http://tvna.compal-toshiba.com/us/en/models/43l420u/

MrMC audio output settings:
Number of channels: 2.0
Output configuration: Optimized
Maintain original volume on downmix
Resample quality: High
Keep audio device alive: 1 Minute
Play GUI sounds: Only when playback stopped
*Enable passthrough
*Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver
*Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding

(*These all get turned off when disabling passthrough, which I've had to do since the last update caused it to start screeching at me.)

Let me know if there's any other configuration details you need (see my earlier post for all the troubleshooting steps and different formats I've tried), as well as any specific actions you'd like me to log.

Thanks!

Hi, Same Problem here. No DD 5.1 with Passthrough after MrMc Update. Old Denon Receiver AVR 1801. The Fire TV 2 is connected with HDMI to TV (JTC Genesis 6.5 UHD), from the TV Goes Digital Coax Cable to the Denon 1801. Old MrMC-Settings in Audio Settings, all activated...passthrough, DD AC3 Receiver, DD AC3 transcoding, DD E-AC3 Receiver, DTS Receiver, no more working after the Update from 19.10.16. it produced the Same weired Sound at the User Above. DD5.1 with Amazon Prime Content Works fine, with No Problems.

Sorry for my Bad englisch.

While I'm an ATV for MrMC guy, I noticed a $3 credit burning a hole in my amazon wallet, so I wanted to give it to the MrMC gang. Now I'm playing around on my firestick. I can't get anything but stereo to work. In seeing Dolby Enhanced on Prime video content but only stereo on MrMC.

My firestick is plugged directly into my pioneer AVRs HDMI, MrMC has Passthrough checked and saved as default. The firestick Display and Sound setting is Dolby Digital Plus Automatic. And I've also tried Dolby Digital Plus over HDMI.

What else should I try?

debuglog might show more info. Note, just checking Passthrough is not enough, you also have to have the various flavor (DD, DTS, etc) checked.

Somehow your post reminded me that audio output needed to go from 2.0 to 5.1, between that and setting passthrough I'm seeing my AVR read as PCM when playing a DTS file. All the speakers light up on the display, so I'm assuming my settings are optimal now. Thanks!
