Cannot choose local subtitles

Post by Brrrgh »

Hi,

Is it possible to watch movie with subtitles stored next to movie? I don't see any option to choose from local subs...
The only way I have is to download new ones. "Downloaded" subtitles are correctly displayed, but nothing is actually downloaded. When I stop the movie and play it again, subs are missing again. I have already read the thread about setting permissions to shared folders but I'm still having troubles with that.

I have NFS share on my Synology NAS with these permissions:

Try to refresh a movie on PMS where you downloaded the subtitle.
Think it uses plugin/add on like kodiplex for kodi etc. if it shows then it can only show subtitles that PMS knows about.

MrMc is set to download subtitles next to movie. It seems that subs are downloaded only to some temp location. It is probably some issue with permissions but I can't figure out, how to set permissions correctly. I had Kodi installed on my ATV4 before and it was working without any additional settings.

MrMc also ignores every subs that are stored next to desired movie. These subs were present before adding and refreshing library into MrMc.

Why should be there any dependencies on PMS? I admit that I have PMS installed on NAS but in MrMc is Plex disabled.

I had a problem with some error code when I was trtying to add SMB source so I was using NFS with problems I wrote above.
Now I've switched back from NFS to SMB (without any issues for now) and MrMc starts working like a charm!
I can now download subtitles to the local disk and MrMc now offers me every subs which I have stored next to movies.
Now I'm very satisfied! Every media center sucks (Plex, DS video, Infuse...) when comparing to MrMc (KODI)!

Sorry for wasting your time with this thread!

Bad news!
It works only for a while. I've tried libdsm on/off - not working.
I've tried to copy files on my NAS through file manager and it works so I suppose that permissions for R/W are set OK.

Today changed my IP of the ATV4, so NFS stops working. Than I just edited the source in File manager from NFS to SMB and download of subs start working while there were duplicates in library (old not working path to video on NFS and the new functional path on SMB). It seems that it stops working after I select "Clean library..." in Settings. It removes non/functional duplicates but subtitle download wasn't successful after that :(
At least I can now choose from existing subs while on NFS I wasn't able to do so.

I'm investigating it for quite a long time but can't figure out what causes that. Any suggestions?
