Hello,
I have a problem with choppy, in fact not really playable, Blu-Ray ISO-files.
I ripped my whole collection of concert/live music Blu-Rays and DVDs and not one Blu-Ray plays fine.
My setup:
I have a Fritz!Box 6590 Cable with an Apple AirPort Extreme (Bridge Mode) attached. On that AirPort I have an external 4TB hard drive (WD Elements). On that harddrive are a bunch of DVD and Blu-Ray ISO-files.
I use an Apple TV 4 (HD) and the paid MrMC version for playback.
Everything is connected via ethernet, no WLAN. Cables are new, distance is 2 meters.
DVD playback is fine but all of my Blu-Rays are so choppy, I can't watch them. Sometime I can watch 4-5sec and then it freezes again. Most of the time the picture stops twice or three times a second, sound does't even play. Blu-Rays menus are the same. In the menus I mostly have cracking distorted sound/noise.
I did speedtests and yes, the USB-Port of the AirPort ist really slow, read speed is between 6-7MB/sec, cable or WLAN doesn't matter much. The first Blu-Ray I had this problem with had about 35MBit/sec, so I thought it could be the problem but I checked more and more Blu-Rays and even the 10MBit/sec ones have the same issue.
My last try was to check them with Infuse Pro and they play flawlessly. The higher bitrate ones are briefly buffering and then they just play fine. Isn't there any kind of buffering in MrMc?
But Infuse has no menus, so no alternative for me.
In the SMB-Client settings I enabled libdsm. Is there any setting I could still try?
I tried to upload a debuglog after I played on of the ISOs but nothing happens after hitting upload.
Thank you in advance,
Doyle

Ok, first of all, I had to switch settings from standard to expert mode or else „internet access“ isn‘t available. you can easily oversee the button to switch settings.
The buffer size already is set to 200MB which seems to be the maximum from what I read so far and if I chose a higher value, it resets to 200 again.
That unfortunately does not seem to be the solution for me.
I played around with some other expert settings but no luck.
Thank you nonetheless,
Doyle

Ok, well, I did it. The AppleTV doesn't give me a real IP, but with the AppleTV-IP from my network I was able to follow the steps.
Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/nwZ2YMS0
(the log was huge, I startet the paste shortly before I played back one of the ISO-files)
Maybe somebody can get something out of it.

Sounds like your wired is 100Mb, you need more than that for blueray iso's.

Yes, the AppleTV 4 HD only has 100MBit/s. But even if I disconnect the cable and use WLAN ac with about 800MBit/s it’s the same. Tried this already.
And Infuse plays them flawlessly.

Ok, I have to correct myself, seems to be the ATV cable connection, I did a second test with WLAN instead of the 100MBit/s cable connection, now it works better.
Further testing shows, it only works well when I enable „Force SMb1“ in the expert settings.
But not all the time. Now it’s choppy again, some hours ago it played flawlessly. Strange.
