DVD support is not planned for the future. The problem is DVD support needs libdvd, that means dvdcss and that we cannot get into the Apple Store.

DVD vs Apple store = Apple store wins
Thats cool. Davilla, do you reckon the sideloaded version whenever it comes into being could have libdvd.
Happy thanksgiving everyone :!:

at any point, and in any direction, you can pull(swipe) and hold on a touchpad and it will start fast scrolling

Ok for the dvd support, but the app nastify on appletv support dvd iso, on the latest beta.
I don't know which lib is used... But maybe there's a solution ?

Could there be DVD support for non-CSS encrypted ISOs (most of my ISOs/VIDEO_TS folders are unencrypted) - or is dvdcss implicit in livdvd? (In other words is it possible to support unencrypted DVDs by excluding dvdcss?) Or is this included already?

Besides libdvd/libcss issues, the handling of DVD with menus has really resulted in some serious bitrot in the main player code. Exceptions and ifs all over the place. Handling a decrypted main title rip WOULD be possible, even in an iso. But handling of any old DVD with menus was removed for the good of the many. If this can be delegated to a dedicated player (many are supported in the codebase), then it could return in a future version.

The main reason that a decrypted main title rip in iso was removed was to avoid user issues when those things contain a) encrypted and/or b) menus.

Looked more into the playback issue I saw on thursday:

Start conditions:
  • Apple TV connected to Onky TX-NR636
  • MrMC audio output: passthrough on
1) You play a file, e.g. a MKV file, with x264 video and DTS or DD
2) Stop file
3) Start any AVI or MP4 with XVID, x264 video and stereo MP3 or AAC audio
4) No sound
5) Start file with DTS or DD, receiver still sees compressed audio bitstream
5) Go to home (launcher), navigation sound gone as well
6) Toggling passthrough on/off in MrMC doesn't help

Only way to get sound back is to put ATV into sleep mode, then wakeup again.

Start conditions:
  • Apple TV connected to Onky TX-NR636
  • MrMC audio output: passthrough off
1) You play a file, e.g. a MKV file, with x264 video and DTS or DD
2) Stop file
3) Start any AVI or MP4 with XVID, x264 video and stereo MP3 or AAC audio
4) Sound still ok

Hope this helps. Let me know if I have to pull off log files. My $0.02... HDMI audio device is in passthrough and somehow stays
there .. also for compressed stereo sources. I guess MrMC .. even when enabled.. switches it on/off depending on the source, so compressed (DD/DTS) or PCM.

Bit puzzling why outside MrMC, the audio is also killed. Maybe because the MrMC app leaves the HDMI audio interface in a funny state.

IPTV Simple Client add-on remove with the update, any reason to why it's been removed?

scrolling from the side of the ATV4 remote work better than scrolling in the middle in MrMc especially scrolling downwards

Playback of HD (1080) recordings with MythTV are sorta jittery. Playback of the same recordings in Kodi on my FireTV are smooth. The recordings were from an HDhomerun Prime. A quick look at a 720P recording looks smooth as well, so it looks like my issue is limited to 1080.

I tried looking through the various settings and matched them up as best I could. I think I may have previously edited an XML file with some buffer settings for my FireTV, but don't recall the details. I did see that there isn't any hardware acceleration (libstagefright, etc) options on MrMC.

Edit: After playing with this further, I discovered that this is related to the Deinterlace function. When set to auto, it appears to use Bob. Bob-Invert looks significantly better.
