Top Shelf Category Order

Post by Climiu »

Currently in tvOS top shelf, recently added movies is listed first followed by recently added episodes. The in progress items are listed last to the far right. The in progress media would be the most frequently selected items in top shelf so could you consider moving them to be the first category on the left hand side for navigation efficiency?

It has been like this for years, it’s a personal preference. I would disagree that most watched is in progress, I have never used it... I do use recently added from top shelf.

Let’s see what others think

My vote is for making In Progress be the first section as well.
If I haven't finished watching something I usually either want to get to it as quickly as possible or at least to have a reminder that I have some stuff yet to finish before being distracted by something new. It also would make the top shelf more consistent with how these sections are laid out on the home screen with In Progress always being first.

I would never use In Progress if it was there. I would say I use In Progress maybe two times a year.

My preference would be for In Progress first, but even more, I'd like to see TV Shows (in Progress) before Movies. We watch TV Shows most every night and Movies less often. But that's us...

Ultimately, I'd like to see this as a user setting. Allow the user to set the order of the four categories, including the ability to not show any one of them.

check the upcoming TestFlight please, lets see if that helps....

Settings -> Video ->Library-> TopShelf items to select the item you want on TS and an order in which it should appear.

Seems to work well in my first test runs. Thanks again for adding this feature!

Function is most important but just a couple minor cosmetic suggestions before public release:

1. I think Recently Added Episodes should be named Recently Added TV Shows for consistency both in Top Shelf and matching the rest of the program.

2. Apple documentation refers to it as Top Shelf vs TopShelf (note the space between the words).

https://developer.apple.com/design/huma ... top-shelf/

So the naming in the settings menu should be changed to reflect this as well as the description at the bottom.

3. In Top Shelf, I think the S and E should be capitalized without leading zeros and a space between --> S1 E15 seems to look better rather than having it run together imo.

(Also On Deck TV Shows on the home screen within MrMC could be formatted similarly)
