QNAP & MySQL

Post by PetSue »

Ok have hit a wall in trying to set up and get working MySQL on my QNAP. I was hoping to set it up as we use 2 x ATV 4's and would like to have them both continue from where we stopped etc and know what we've watched etc.

So I enable MySQL in QNAP settings, then do same for MrMc and allow it to create the DB as told to but all I get is the error of unable to connect so therefore no DB created.

Can anyone with a QNAP help me out please or someone who knows how to set it up properly please as has me stumped.

Thank you :)

Did you create the user and give it permissions?

Ok I have movement on it now. I think I may have stuffed up the User part of it, so created a new one and added that and it went straight to the mrmc screen with Database migration in progress, please wait and moving dots.

It has been going for ages now, how long does it usually take as I see that I can't get out of this screen to get back to MrMc?

Also does that mean I need to do the same on my 2nd ATV?

EDIT: ok been going for hours now and still the same migration screen. I've checked the databases in phpmyadmin and nothing there so something not right.

Well I've added permissions for user for all folders on my QNAP Server but can't see any option anywhere for allowing permission for the database.

Ok well here's an update and I still have a couple of questions please.

I ended up deleting the app altogether as the DB wasn't created and it just hung so started from scratch again and now I have the DB and all worked fine this time.

Q1 - do I need to do anything to update the DB or does it do it automatically?
Q2 - do I need to do anything on my 2nd ATV so they both talk to the same DB?

Thank you :)

1. Yes, you need to keep updating it to import new videos as you add them.

2. Except connecting it to the same database on the same server, no you don’t need to do anything else

Thank you but please forgive me but how do I update the DB?

Sorry but confused. So if I watch something on the 2nd ATV then am guessing the DB won't update therefore if I leave something half way through that wouldn't show up on the 1st ATV. Is that correct Therefore me needing to connect to the same DB?

This is the main reason for me running MySQL so that I can watch on the 2 different ATV's and both be updated accordingly.
