Hi there,
As posted in a previous thread relating to tvOS 13 beta and MrMC beta, there seems to be an issue with laggy 4k HDR content even on the latest official builds of tvOS and MrMC. Just seems to stutter every few seconds.
This didn't exist before and is only a recent development.
Different combinations of AVFoundation and Video Toolbox were selected to see if there was a difference - selecting "use VideoToolbox for 4K HEVC HDR content" seems to fix the frame rate issue, but the colours are wrong and washed out.
For reference, I used VLC to play the same file - it works without issues or any lag, but the colours are not as rich as the AVFoundation option. They are however far better than the washed out colours under VideoToolbox.
Any recommendations to fix and / or troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance.
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

In other forums, I could read that there is a bug in tvOS 13 beta 8, apple is aware of it and they are working to fix it, so you might want to wait for the next beta which is coming soon (may be as tvOS 13.1 beta).MrSpidey wrote: 02 Sep 2019, 04:40 Hi there,

I need a debuglog that shows the exact media so I can fetch it for testing.

Never mind, reproduced and fixed. Sometimes I really hate apple when they do this.

@sethx44
I’m currently away from test installation, can you try choosing only AVFoundation (Check off Video Toolbox) and see if the issue still persistent?
Thanks

Nothing will change until the next 3.9.2 tetstflight version gets pushed out.
The issue is with AVFoundation codec, specifically AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer.
VideoToolBox decoder is fine.

Apologies, I didn't get any notifications of replies to my post, and when I logged in today I saw all these replies. Seems you found the issue?davilla wrote: 02 Sep 2019, 20:14 Never mind, reproduced and fixed. Sometimes I really hate apple when they do this.

Is the next build eminent, I.e. within few days, say next week?
BTW: selecting Video Toolbox delivers washed-out colors for HDR contents; this is not the case for AVFoundation, however, so what is the reason for this behavior?
