I've noticed that when I click on a file to play and my hard drive (SMB, OS X El Capitan) has to wake up, then nothing happens in MrMC. If I select to play it a second time then it works. Previously, XBMC/Kodi would just wait for the hard drive to spin up and play the file on the first click.
I think this issue was mentioned elsewhere but possibly buried in with another topic.
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

Same issue here, but from NAS. I guess it's an easy fix. The timeout needs to be few seconds longer.

Not that easy, WOL needs ping and system() is not permitted on iOS. So working on a native pingkrzysztof81 wrote:Same issue here, but from NAS. I guess it's an easy fix. The timeout needs to be few seconds longer.

Already mentioned to you, but when my QNAP NAS has to wakeup I see consistently two error messages, beforedavilla wrote:Not that easy, WOL needs ping and system() is not permitted on iOS. MrMC can access the shared drive: 1) Illegal stream error, 2) Connection error.
On Windows, I connect network drives via a batch file at login, which is nothing more than pinging an IP address until
packets are returned, then map the drive. On my iMac I still want to do the same, because sometimes drives are missing
at start-up as well. Need some Applescript for that, but no "inspiration" yet.
Funny enough (as already mentioned) Kodi on Android (TV) and Windows don't show this behaviour. Usually, the UI is stuck
until the drive is found.

I haven't heard... has this issue been addressed? I'm still having the same problem waiting for my hard drive to wake up.

yes, 1.2 (both tvOS and iOS) has a working wake-on-access. but you do have to enable it.

I thought that might be. Where do I enable it?

I think I found it under Power Saving, Try to wakeup remote server on access.

Re: Waiting for a hard drive to wake up
Even with that option turned on, it still doesn't always work. I click play, and there is a delay. I can hear the hard drive spinning up. But nothing plays. When I click play again, then it plays.
