I'm on the previous version and although HDR was working for me it's now stopped and MrMC is laggy for a second then stops playing.
Is there progress on these areas that might benefit me when 3.7.0 comes out?
In other words since it seems close should I just hang on and wait, or should I go look for a different branch of kodi where it's more likely I'll get some joy?

Usually we don’t use TestFlight thread to report issues with previous versions, TestFlight is just that... beta testing of what’s new and is coming out...
Post a debuglog in the new thread and we will of course have a look or wait for 3.7.0 to see if your issue is fixed.
You didn’t mention the platform you are on so I can’t comment on different “Kodi branch”

Using the Plex extension, I watched an episode of House (the tv show) a few days ago. Now the background for the extension on the main view (that shows my libraries) is the background for House. It’s the same no matter which library icon is highlighted. Everything is fine within the libraries, just not from the top level view.
Anyway for me to fix this?

I don't know if it's a bug or a limitation, but can I do anything on the client side to optimize on the Hue Light service. The light are several seconds slower than the picture, so perhaps there's a setting to optimize. I'm aware there is some delay, but this is much.
Also is it still not recommended not to use VideoToolBox or what can I do to optimize picture on ATV4K. I'm getting a lot less sharp picture than my Shield (SPMC) on the same input with Lanczos 3 and auto resolution change.
The ATV4K is supposed to be very good scaler, so I can't understand the big difference.
