Is the library scanning automatic or does it happen when changes are detected in the video sources? If it's many can some kind of library update program be made available?
Really glad to see this app on the ATV. Made my day.

Re: Library scanning
Hi,
Similar question, would it be possible to have a screen notification (as for Kodi on right upper end corner) when MrMc is refreshing the library with updated fanart and synopsis ?
Currently, I do not know when MrMc is checking for new movies or tv shows stored on my NAS Synology.
Kind regards.

Re: Library scanning
In another topic this was also discussed. I wrote that the "library scan on start up" is not really useful. This is because MrMC goes to sleep when you end it. So to enforce the library scan on start up, you would have to force kill MrMC (double tap home button and swipe up).
I consider this a workaround
What I suggested was to implement automatic library scans as follows. Perform it when the user enters the list view. Either "from above" (home screen / main menu) or "from below" (f.i. from episode selection screen). If they only scan the library the user is entering (either Movies or TV shows), the user always has an up-to-date library he is browsing.
The devs didn't provide feedback in that topic on the suggested implementation, so we'll have to wait for 1.1.0 (or later) to see what they have come up with

Re: Library scanning
I don't know if it's sufficient, but there already is a scan library option in list view, if you swipe left or right (can't remember), at the very bottom of that view.

Re: Library scanning
doing automatic scans every time you enter the list view will be extremely annoying if you go in and out all the time.
you can trigger the library update every time you add new content manually or if you are using automated solutions they usually have a way of notifying media centres to update library.

Re: Library scanning
If it was an option in the System menu, then it would be the choice of the user. I would enable that option without hesitation, especially combined with an option for doing it in the background without UI-notification. Then I wouldn't notice it, thus not get annoyed, but have the benefit of always up to date libraries. Just my two cents.amet wrote:doing automatic scans every time you enter the list view will be extremely annoying if you go in and out all the time.

Re: Library scanning
I have "update library on startup" turned on, but as others have noted, "startup" in this case means quitting MrMC by swiping up on the app.
Due to this, I also think MrMC needs something on the main screen that is similar to Plex's "reload" (which triggers a library update). That would be a great update, if it can be done at some point.

Re: Library scanning
Thanks. I think I know what you mean: that is, the listings under Video > Files. I will start making use of that from now on.amet wrote:there is an "Update Library" button, swipe to the left from any library view and its there
