The switching with 11.2b is awesome in the apps with the native player. I haven't turned on my NVIDIA Shield in a few weeks.davilla wrote: 24 Nov 2017, 14:43 ooooooo, display rate switching for appletv 4k is semi-workingNow to get it into the right place.
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

Is the switching done by the OS itself, not dependent upon apps to do it?timstephens24 wrote: 24 Nov 2017, 17:00

That's the way the new roku OS 8 is, and I really like it. I hope Nvidia move that direction as well.

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.0
You need to turn it on in settings, and then apps that use the native player (i.e. iTunes Movies, Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, etc) will switch automatically. For other apps, they can do it two ways: when the app is launched they can switch to whatever color space/refresh rate is needed for that app and then switching back when the app is closed or switching like the native player when videos are played like what MrMC will do.cosmoxl wrote: 24 Nov 2017, 17:03 Is the switching done by the OS itself, not dependent upon apps to do it?

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.0
For MrMC, two setting will need to be changed. Again, this is AppleTV 4K only.
1) In MrMC, Enable Settings->Video->Playback->Adjust Display Rate
2) Enabled frame matching in tvOS settings. If disabled in tvOS, Matching will be ignored in MrMC even if you have "Adjust Display Rate" enabled in MrMC.
If your HDTV does not support the requested rate, the requested refresh rate change will be ignored.
A few things that I have seen so far, requesting 25 fps gets 50 fps. Same for 30 fps, that gets 60 fps. Still exploring this result. We don't have exact control as in FireTV2 and Shield, it is more a request for a frame rate match. Asking for 23.976xxx does get 23.976xxx and I've verified this with CADisplayLink tracking the native cadence of the display hardware.
A few more regression tests to make sure nothing is borked for the AppleTV4 and we should be good to go

Great. Can’t wait
This is all I’m waiting for before pulling the trigger on the full version.
Thanks for all the hard work.

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.0
Going from 4K HDR at 60Hz to SDR is working properly, but going from 4K HDR at 60Hz to 4K HDR at 24Hz isn't. It switches the refresh rate successfully but it goes to SDR and not HDR.

Apple TV Settings:
Format: 4K HDR (60Hz)
Chroma: 4:2:0
Match Dynamic Range: On
Match Frame Rate: On
MrMC Setting:
Adjust Refresh Rate: Always
In the log: I played Aladdin (1080p SDR BluRay remux) first, and that successfully switches to SDR, then when I stop it switches back to HDR. Then I played Batman v Superman (4K HDR UHD remux) and that switches to SDR then back to HDR, but it should be in HDR.

I tried with MySQL, Plex, and Emby, and all reproduced the same.
