I use MRMC on my apple TV, and kodi version 18 on my PC. They share the same database on a NAS.

If I upgrade kodi on my PC to version 19, will MRMC still work?
Or do I have to wait until MRMC supports the (possibly new) kodi 19 database format?

Mrmc Will still work, kodi will still work.
But they will be on different databases. Kodi migrates the music/video database to a higher number with a new kodi version. So for a shared (MySQL) database you will have to wait upgrading to kodi 19 until mrmc supports the same database number.

FYI Music database is out of sync for a while due to changes on the kodi side.

Ah, that makes perfect sense. I'll wait with the upgrade then, as I really like the two rooms where I use my devices to be in sync when it comes to the "watched" status of my videos.
