I scrap and administrate my tv series with the tinyMediaManager. This app creates also all the files for a series like the poster.jpg, season-poster.jpg, tvshow.nfo and so on ...

Is there a reason, why MrMC after refreshing the lib and after reading new episodes chooses the thumbs.jpg as the picture of the latest tv series episodes in the main menu and as the picture for the series poster in the list with tv series, although the specification of Kodi seems to be, that the poster.jpg is for displaying pictures in portrait mode and the thumbs.jpg for content preview in landscape mode?

kodi.wiki says about the thumb (format 960 x 540 px = 16:9):

"This art type hold thumbnails that are still images from the movie itself, and can be generated from the video file in your library. They are also used as images for episodes in TV Shows."

whereas about the poster (format 1000 x 1500 px = 2:3):

Posters replicates the movie posters often seen in cinema complexes, or the front cover of home video releases, and contain a clearly visible logo or name of the video.

Why does the MrMC version on my AppleTV uses the landscape thumbs.jpg at the home shelf and as image for the series in the list view, whereas Kodi at my Mac chooses as expected: the portrait poster.jpg for new episodes in the home shelf and for the images of the series in list view?

PS: At the moment I do my own workaround by deleting the scrapped thumbs.jpg, copy the poster.jpg and rename that copy into thumbs.jpg.

This is a known issue to me. I have tried to report it in the forum, but it was never fully understood or resolved. I also removed all thumbs. I don’t really need them.

Yes, seems to be the same issue. I think it's a bit strange, that nobody is annoyed by that

We get info using the inbuilt information providers, and there is no issue with them.

I’ll need a new crash course on how to reproduce this and we can re look at it
