Hi,

Been using for approximately a year without problems, but something has changed recently that is causing troubles with 4K HEVC HDR playback. 1080p content is fine. I'm getting visual artifacts on the right side of the screen. It's weird, because everything was working perfectly all this time until the playback issue popped up, and I have not touched anything in the settings or setup.

I've found that it only affects MrMC. Netflix and Amazon are both fine for 4K HDR. And I've further found that it appears to be related to acceleration in that the artifacts disappear when I turn VideoToolbox on (though when I do that, the colors look like poo). I've also tested the same file in VLC, and it worked fine.

Something appears to be specific to acceleration in MrMC. But if that's the case, I can't figure out why nobody else appears to be complaining...

For troubleshooting, I've swapped HDMI cables, and HDMI ports. Hard reboots of TV and the ATV.

Sample plays fine with avf codec, no artifacts seen.

So is this looking like a hardware issue then?

Behavior stopped for a bit without me making any changes, but has started up again tonight. As with before, whatever is causing it seems exclusive to MrMC, and to HEVC/4K. A bit maddening.

At this point MRMC will not decode any HDR content on my Apple TV. just looks washed out no color.
