Hi,
I know you can set a global audio delay in MrMc. But somehow (think my TV process one frame rate quicker then the other) I have to use different audio delay per frame rate. In Kodi for example you can set the audio delay per 23.976/24/25/etc Hz in the advancedsettings.xml. Is this possible for MrMc to do (on the Apple TV)?
Regards,
Alain

Not possible at the current time.Alain13 wrote: 24 Sep 2019, 11:25 Hi,

Please give details on the various a/v offsets vs framerate that you see. Also HDTV/AV Receiver details.
And what are your tvOS settings ? You a 50 Hz or 60Hz man ?

Re: Different Audio Delay setting per frame rate
Apple TV 4K -> Pioneer Plasma 608D -> Stereo Line out to HTPC (for channelrouting and Dirac room correction)
tvOS: Audiomode on Stereo, Automatic Refresh Rate switching on, 1080p on 50Hz
MrMc: default
23.976 Hz: -230 ms
24 Hz: -230 ms
25 Hz: -150 ms
29.97 Hz: -100 ms
50 Hz: -50 ms
(Note: Because of the Dirac etc I do on the HTPC, my video is always ahead of the audio)
So it looks like with higher Hz/fps the TV becomes slower in processing the video, because I use the CatchInSync test file/iOS app, which has always the same stereo output.
Also playing the same files on my HTPC through Kodi gives the same difference between the hz (albeit less delay because of one less step).
When I set the correct delay for the 23.976Hz and then watch Live/Recorded TV (50 Hz), the lipsync is really worse.
PS my wife/kids love the (simplicity of) Apple TV and don't care that it is only stereo this way, but they see the lipsync issue.

Re: Different Audio Delay setting per frame rate
on second thought, are you talking about display latency in advancedsettings.xml ?
Code: Select all
<refresh>
<min>23</min>
<max>24</max>
<delay>125</delay>
</refresh>

Re: Different Audio Delay setting per frame rate
Sorry my bad, it is indeed video latency i'm using in Kodi to compensate for my audio being late:
Code: Select all
<video>
<latency>
<refresh>
<rate>23</rate>
<delay>-125</delay>
</refresh>
</latency>
</video>

Re: Different Audio Delay setting per frame rate
I just found out something really great in tvOS13:
Wireless Audio Sync works per refresh rate!
So set the ATV for example on 1080p 60Hz and do the Wireless Audio Sync and you see it is Calibrated. Then set the ATV on 1080p 50Hz and when you go to the Wireless Audio Sync you see it doesn’t say Calibrated anymore. (Switch back to 60Hz and it says Calibrated again). So it does sync per refresh rate!
I did three Wireless Audio Sync (1080p 60/50/24Hz) and the audio was around 100ms ahead now in all the refreshrates (23.976,24,25,29.97,50,60Hz). This is probably my TV latency as the ATV only measures audio delay. So I set an -100 ms global delay in MrMc and have almost perfect lipsync across all my media!
Will still see if I can tweak it even further with advancedsetting.xml (yeah I’m a perfectionist), but what a great feature Apple made there! Maybe in the future they’ll use the iPhone camera for the perfect audio/video sync.

Re: Different Audio Delay setting per frame rate
interesting
I played with that under the tvOS 13 beta, made no difference to me, lol
