ISO support would be great! Just wondering: I thought that it was a limitation from Apple that iso's are not supported?

Nope. MRMC is running so flawlessly that I don't check these forums frequently. Voted now, and keep up the good work

I've ripped my DVDs using RipIt on the Mac, which creates a '.dvdmedia' package that's basically a folder containing VIDEO_TS and friends. I'm excited to be able to access them via tvOS soon, thanks for the work you're putting into this!

How about support for "8 Track tapes"
Do 'many' people who would use a thing like Kodi for hard drive based media, still use DVD's/ DVD-Rips?
HiDef Blu-Ray and 4K have surely superseded them by now and mkv + mp4 containers can mimic the structure with chapters etc, if you like that sort of thing AFAIK. Personally my DVD's went to the skip many moons ago, couldn't stand them.
ATV4 MrMc can handle 720p h265 mp4's but no higher. Being able to play back 4k h265 (eg iPhone 6s 4k camera videos) would be more of a 2016 feature IMHO, though I appreciate ATV4 can't output at 4k AFAIK but 1080p would be handy.
