My EVN:

Apple TV 4K - tvOS 11.2.6
Frame rate matching - turn on
Dynamic range matching - turn on
MrMC 3.5.0

Some video file, use ASS subtitles, will be causing MrMC to hang...
At the end of the post I will attach a sample.

The first time I tried to call the subtitles that caused the problem, but when I switched subtitles MrMC crashed and the second call succeeded, let me to reproduce the issue mentioned in the post title.

I noticed that MrMC can call tvOS's system font.
If the tvOS system font can be used in the subtitle font selection, and the outline style can be 1/2 thinner to this now, this will greatly improve the rendering effect of the SRT subtitles.

This change has greatly improved user experience.
We will get close to the rendering of the subtitles in the Netflix/Infuse app.

This is a bug and it will make the MrMC stuck, please fix this.
I didn't ask developers to add fonts that require authorization...

'/System/Library/Fonts/LanguageSupport/PingFang.ttc' is not accessible via any App as Apps are sandboxed. You are not permitted to directly assess xxx.ttf files.

Plus PingFang.ttc is the combined series of PingFangXX.ttf files. I'm not quite sure where it even gets this reference.

Infuse also controlled by the apple's rules, but it's can play this video well. I'm also very curious, according to my observation it just replaced unkown fonts with its built-in font.

I suggest, if the ASS/SSA subtitles don’t have the font found in MrMC. Replace them with user selected font in subtitle options. (For now, MrMC’s built-in Arial font is the only choice for Asian language users. ）

This at least ensures that the video can be played normally and the subtitle content can be displayed. This compromise will be widely accepted.

Hope the development team consider this solution.

If you can, plus PingFangXX.ttf and provide the option of font outline adjustment, which will be a great news for me

I have updated 3.6.0, Plex for MrMC is great！
However, this bug still exists. I hope the development team can consider my suggestion

That’s great, thanks to the development team for paying attention to this problem. Very much looking forward to the completion.

Has this issue been resolved? I'm using 3.6.2 on Apple TV and still experience the same issue. The subtitle which contains Asian texts with missing fonts freezes the playback.
