I use MrMc the first time on my Shield TV with a Sony 4K TV. Which are the best Settings for 4K with HDR and normal 1080 Movies?

Hi,
I would like to know is the MrMc team think it will possible to have internal scaler like lanczos 3 optimised on SPMC to improve quality picture on the shield TV with 1080/720p contents and 4K settings on shield TV and 4K TV ?

Because shield 4K upscaling is poor, and we have better result with 1080p shield settings and upscaling made by the 4K TV.
But when we want to see 4K movies, netflix or other, we have to change shield picture settings to 4K.
I know that Nvidia is trying to add auto resolution settings on shield TV, but they have issues.

I understand, no problem

But if it's possible it will be great, hope you put this in the wish list soon

Resurrecting this post, since the title fits my question and some time has past...
I just received my first 4k TV. What are the recommended settings for Shield TV/MrMC for optimal performance?
TV - TCL 55P607
Visio Soundbar connected through ARC.
*Edit* - I should mention that I am on Testflight 3.0.9

For 1080p, leave the Shield at 1080p/59.940Hz and make sure you set it to YCbCr 4:4:4 8-bit Rec.709 for the best results for almost all the content out there. The Shield can't automatically change resolution, but it can automatically adjust the refresh rate so make sure that's checked in the MrMC settings. The Shield does a horrible job upscaling, and it doesn't do correct color mapping from Rec.709 to Rec.2020, so that's why it'd be recommended to stay at 1080p.
If you're watching something in 4K that's 10-bit HEVC with Rec.2020, manually change the Shield to 4K/59.940Hz and it should be set to YCbCr 4:2:0 10-bit Rec.2020.

Thanks!
That's pretty much what I've gathered going through the various forums - but I wanted to confirm since a lot of the information out there is a few months old.
Since this TV has the built in Roku apps - most, if not all, of the 4k content will be played from the native apps.

Sorry to resurrect the thread once more, but with @koying joining the team I hope that could be some development towards resolution switching

don't be sorry, the wait have been long enough, it is time for some Nvidia Shield cookies...
Auto res switch with reliable working HDR switch when auto refresh change is enabled must be fixed as soon as possible. How are all these SPMC orphans going to migrate here otherwise?

It will but we are too close to 3.6.0 (3.5.1 in testflight) release to make any major changes. Koying has been a busy bee prep'ing for post 3.6.0 release improvements so I can certainly say, FireOS/Shield will be getting some love in the near future.
