Not specific to this version, but when AirPlaying from Apple TV to a speaker (HomePod in this case) it works at first but if you turn the TV off and back on it will go back to playing through HDMI instead (even though the AirPlay speaker is still connected) until you disconnect and connect the AirPlay speaker again. Apps using AVPlayer all work fine. I believe this started happening after the AirPlay 2 tvOS update.

Also of note it would be worth supporting AirPlay 2 for enhanced buffering/fast streaming (much less delay) if at all possible (you have to use specific audio API's: https://developer.apple.com/documentati ... o_your_app).

That note is useless for those that have their own internal players. :)

Debuglog that shows this please.

After launching MrMC, the right of the screen should be filled with Recently Added and In Progress for TV Shows and Movies, but those areas are blank. Once I open each section, then back out to the main screen, those sections are then populated.

tvOS
Plex or mrmc database?

How many servers are you attaching to? If it’s slow pulling all the server info then it will not show RA and in Progress until it’s loaded.

Debuglog maybe has some info
MrMC database, tvOS, SMB share. Recents/Progress sections simply do not populate, even if left for awhile, until after you open each section or perform a library update first.

Sorry I figured AVSampleBufferAudioRenderer was a low-level API that you could use, I don't know a whole lot about iOS/tvOS development.

This is the debug log. What I did was connect to the HomePod, start MrMC, play a video, then turn the television off (just the television, nothing else), turn it back on, and then play the exact same video again. The first time it played through the HomePod - the second time it played through HDMI (despite still being connected to the HomePod according to the menu). I also tested the official Plex app and it played through the HomePod both times.

In Ariana pulling from Plex.... I see On Deck and Recently Added, as I move focus from poster to poster, the poster I leave reverts to a gray ticket template, if I move to another gray template the poster populates. It’s a little like whack a mole as you move around the screen, with 2-3 of 8 visible videos being gray tickets at all times.

If I go into the Plex extention all those videos are present and stable. And when I exit out to Ariana, the issue is fixed, with all posters properly showing.

I also have problem with some posters not loading, same setup as you. If I go up top to my plex username and click that, it reloads the plex server and then all posters appear.

wow, 1st time I've seen the outputLatency that huge :)

NOTICE: void dumpAVAudioSessionProperties() outputLatency 2.000000

We are told by tvOS, the audio goes through HDMI.

NOTICE: void dumpAVAudioSessionProperties() audio route = HDMIOutput

TVOS 11.4, I've read when they added in AirPlay2, they really messed things up.

Yeah I figured they made a mess of things not using AVPlayer. The audio in MrMC is always at least slightly out of sync on my HomePod when it is working anyway (it always was, even with AirPlay 1). AVPlayer apps work fine, I’ve just been using the Plex app lately and hating my life tbh. If it’s too much work to fix I understand, not a lot of people airplaying. Maybe Apple will fix it (though it isn’t in tvOS 12 betas, i tried them).

Apps that have implemented airplay 2 all work perfectly, but if that’s not feasible with MrMC I understand. Thanks for looking into it in any case.
