Oh they always like to take forever.
I’m currently away from my ATV installation, but if atmos doesn’t work on MrMC, then it wasn’t just a build mistake but probably some code modifications are needed. Plex client can Payback/passthrough EAC3 atmos using the native AVPlayer in tvOS 13 Beta.cosmoxl wrote: 20 Aug 2019, 00:00 got 3.9.1 installed and it does seem that Atmos is broken in tvOS 13. it wasn't just the fault of MrMC.
The Plex app *not* using the enhanced video player can play atmos in some files, mainly the test files specifically to show off atmos. But it does not play atmos from actual movies with eac3 atmos track. I'm guessing there's something different about those audio tracks.Everbrave wrote: 20 Aug 2019, 04:50I’m currently away from my ATV installation, but if atmos doesn’t work on MrMC, then it wasn’t just a build mistake but probably some code modifications are needed. Have you tried to put these files through Subler (v 1.5 or later)?cosmoxl wrote: 21 Aug 2019, 15:14The Plex app *not* using the enhanced video player can play atmos in some files, mainly the test files specifically to show off atmos. I'm not going to bother with editing the files. I'll wait for MrMC devs to get things fixed for tvOS 13. For now I've still got a shield or a roku that will play atmos from eac3.priitv8 wrote: 21 Aug 2019, 17:26Have you tried to put these files through Subler (v 1.5 or later)?cosmoxl wrote: 21 Aug 2019, 15:14The Plex app *not* using the enhanced video player can play atmos in some files, mainly the test files specifically to show off atmos. The MP4 ec3 track’s Magic Cookie needs to follow spec and carry additional 2 new bytes in order for tvOS to recognise atmos.
Works for me every time. Just majority of atmos tracks are not encoded in eac3.
You don't need to edit them. Subler just fixes the MP4 atoms for you when saving.cosmoxl wrote: 21 Aug 2019, 17:35I'm not going to bother with editing the files. I'll wait for MrMC devs to get things fixed for tvOS 13. For now I've still got a shield or a roku that will play atmos from eac3.
Can you explain how to do this? Also is there a PC program that will do the same thing? Maybe handbrake?priitv8 wrote: 21 Aug 2019, 20:35You don't need to edit them. But in case of the MP4 container (the only one tvOS native player knows to play), it makes a lot of sense to have fully spec compliant files, I think. The Dolby-created demo files are. Most things converted from MKV are not.
This whole discussions does not apply to MKV in any way anyway.
You open a movie in Subler and save it again. Or save as a copy.tomsmith wrote: 26 Aug 2019, 00:41Can you explain how to do this? Also is there a PC program that will do the same thing? Maybe handbrake?
