Re: Hue Sync on Amazon Fire TV
thanks.
now I got the screenshot.
mediacodec (surface) enabled , also capture enabled.
movie playing with subtitles.
screenshot shows black screen with only white subtitle.
just as I'd thought; it captures the screen. but it captures the top layer which only has subtitle.
I also noticed that when I make any settings while playing video, the lights go "red" color.
because the settings buttons are red.
I guess, this hardware supplies a layered capture. would it be possible to get the layer below with some change on the code ?
any settings that I can try ? (I already tried with subtitles off, that does not make a change)

Re: Hue Sync on Amazon Fire TV
We can't read the bits of the video layer in surface mode, that's why we are using the high-level Android API.
As long as the video is not drm protected, it should show up on the screenshots, and it works like that on the majority of the Android devices.
That's why I said it is a firmware issue...

Re: Hue Sync on Amazon Fire TV
can you describe me the problem with a deeper explanation ?
" high-level Android API" and "firmware issue" does not mean much to me.
I want to understand so that I can maybe ask a solution to Amazon for the problem.
What is not possible with "some" devices so you call it "firmware issue" ?

Re: Hue Sync on Amazon Fire TV
It's really simple and will go right over the understanding of any one you could reach at Amazon.
As koying said, "We can't read the bits of the video layer in surface mode".
That means, when in surface mode, we can't read the layer that video is rendered on'. So we cannot capture it and reduce it to something that is meaningful to sending to hue.
