Force SMB v1 didn't help.
Tomorrow I'll try the manual method. I assume I do all that in Add Network Connection, right?

If I map a path from a PC in the house to my video files, it appears as below:

\\NameOfServerPC\Users\Public\Videos

The word Workgroup doesn't even appear anywhere, but should Workgroup be "Server Name" when setting up an SMB share or should NameOfServerPC be the "Server Name"

I'm still very confused how the SMB routine worked perfectly in the past, and I could enter Workgroup and navigate the subfolders, but not now.

I created several SMB shares with no luck, with and without sub folders, using the servers ip and its computer name. All give "error 2: share not available"

Yet other apps all successfully create SMB shares. I guess I'm stuck with Upnp to my Plex server now.

something really strange is going on there, are you using libdsm or normal samba in MrMC?

I don't know where or what libdsm is. In the past I always just selected Windows Network (SMB) and I could select "Workgroup" This last round of attempts included that as well as Add Network Location.

I'll be making some changes and adding more debug, lets get you into testflight.

Same place you found SMB v1, there is a libdsm... Try using that

Ok libdsm lets me click on those SMB shares that I created, but it's prompting me for a user name and password. I know of none, except for my wifi router's, which didn't work. Nothing happens if I select cancel or no none. I also set the timeout up to 20 for the heck of it.

Btw, I've always been on my mrmc betas, til now when you had me reinstall, because there was no beta in TestFlight.

Could you try to add a user for SMB on your win7 machine, just out of interest to see if issue is with authentication... I can't get it to fail here

Once we resolve your connection issues we can try to fix wrong show identification... I also can't reproduce that
