Re: Oreo rolling out to Shield
There is an improved color space conversion that's happened in Oreo. Previously there was a big difference in colors for the icons, especially Netflix and Hulu. The shades of red and green would just be completely different. I don't really see that now, so it's a much better conversion that's happening.sdsnyr94 wrote: 30 May 2018, 14:04Noggin on the Kodi forum seems to have some knowledge about it - there may be a new API that applications may need to call... it's not something done at the OS level.koying wrote: 30 May 2018, 06:05 EDIT: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topi ... grade-7-0/ speaks about "Improved color space conversion such as from Rec. 709 or sRGB source content to Rec. 2020"

This is good to hear so far, I have not received the Oreo update yet as it is on hold right now so they can squash some bugs.timstephens24 wrote: 30 May 2018, 21:56There is an improved color space conversion that's happened in Oreo. It does look like this also can be handled at the app level which I would think would be the best way to handle this (but I'm not a developer so what do I know)

Re: Oreo rolling out to Shield
Hi, I've updated my shield today and have noticed the system cpu usage percentages on mrmc is not working. It isnt working on kodi either and when i posted on the shield forum someone replied to say it is probably something to do with kodi and mrmc running on Oreo. Does anyone know if theres a fix in the pipe line for mrmc? Thanks

I believe the API everyone talks about being available since Oreo (API level 26) is https://developer.android.com/reference ... ColorSpacekoying wrote: 30 May 2018, 06:05 https://developer.android.com/reference ... splay.Mode is the API we use to switch resolutions.
Nothing new here for Oreo re colorspaces, so nothing can be done from MrMC side.
But not sure where that fits in. It's obviously just a conversion API so might need to be put somewhere into the rendering pipeline to convert the source to the current mode, instead of switching the actual mode to match the media.

Re: Oreo rolling out to Shield
Yeah I know you've been saying this exact thing since at least January in the kodi forums haha. I'm like you though - I keep my Shield in BT.2020 and don't notice any issues or colour problems with the non-HDR things we watch 90% of the time. I also just keep my TV in standard mode because I like the bright vivid colours better than the calibrated "correct" cinema mode I set up when I first got it!
So I must be a pixel snob, but not a colorspace one.

Re: Oreo rolling out to Shield
Hi,
i kindly want to know if there any news on this? The wrong colorspace for REC709 with shield BT2020 setting is very heavy.... (because of no autoswitch like ATV4k)
But it is the only mistake by using shield with MrMc. It would be awesome if this issue could be solved!
Thanks for all the hard work!

The NVIDIA devs are working on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the next update. It was actually supposed to make this one (and was in the update notes) but apparently it needs some more work still.Peter911 wrote: 16 Dec 2018, 15:47 Hi,
