Re: Library scan on start-up
I agree that an auto update timer probably wouldn't be a good idea, especially with larger libraries.
A button that is accessible to the main screen would be nice. I imagine (haven't looked honestly, still setting up a mythtv box as a priority right now) that update library is still in the side menu in TV Shows and Movies. If I'm understanding Davilla's last post, we can send notifications through the API via renaming/file organization scripts/programs.

Perhaps you can scan upon entering the List View of either tv shows or movies?

See amet's comment here (namely: "It's being worked on, but not for 1.2.0 ... Next version will have it") for the fact that they are working on some sort of revised library-refresh functionality for a future version of MrMc:baerwurzl wrote:Still love to see an update library button next to favourites button...baerwurzl wrote:?!baerwurzl wrote:or a force-update button next to the favourites-button

Re: Library scan on start-up
Also of note is that music playback seems to be being affected by library scanning. At least in TVos.
I was getting lots of skips during music playback until I stopped the library updates. Now it runs smooth.
