1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

Other than that, we hope you enjoy MrMC so far and we welcome any input and feedback you might have.
First of all: Great work Finally my AppleTV is useful - was waiting for this since launch.
I am currently using Kodi on multiple OpenElec instances on some Raspi2 - And now I wanted to replace one of them with MrMC on the Apple TV.
It seems like it should work pretty well - with the MySQL Database it should be easy to use the same DB as the Kodi Clients...
But one thing I am missing - maybe I am just blind - is the ability of using multiple profiles in MrMc (and switch between them). This is a shame - because I have a library for me and my wife, and another for my kids.. without Game of Thrones and stuff
Is this a missing feature? Will this be integrated at some point? Or am I just not seeing it?
Profiles is a real mess in the codebase, does all sorts of goofy things that are hard to fit into the tvOS runtime model. So rather than risk user issues with it, we hide the settings for now.
On the list to a) restore or b) refactor into user access levels. b) is what users really want.
Thats actually a shame, although I understand your decision.
I am actually wondering - since MrMc is opensource - shouldn't it be possible for me to simply rename the package and copy a second copy of MrMc to the AppleTV? That one should have a complete seperate configuration etc.. or not?
Actually thats something you might consider - add a second copy of the App to the store with different package name.. called something like "MrMC Kids" and with a different skin and Logo I would buy it

You could do this but you would have to change the bundle id from tv.mrmc.mrmc.tvos to something different. The bundle id is how apps are identified. See xbmc/platform/darwin/tvos/Info.plist.in, CFBundleIdentifier
Tanks for all your work putting MrMC out as an awesome fork of Kodi, I'm really happy with the functionality and how well it works on my Apple TV.
To be able to trash my old Mac Mini HTPC, profiles is one of my requirements keeping my movies/tv series collection separate from my kids stuff. I don't want to sound unthankful, but do you have an ETA when a kind of profile support will be available for MrMC?
For me, profile support would be something I would be willing to spend more money on, have you considered adding more features as in-app purchases?

Keep up the great work!
It is not going to make next update but it IS very high on the priority list.

What do you mean exactly by 'user access levels'?
For me, I would love a way to quickly switch settings, for example when switching zones on my amplifier, I'd like to be able to disable DTS passthrough otherwise I get static. Something that could save me going through all the menus each time would be great. Previously on an htpc I used a script to swap the settings xml around lol.
Out of interest - when disabling passthrough you can control the volume level in the audio menu. This is great when plugged into my dell monitor that has no volume control. Is it at all possible to bind these to remote buttons? Probably isn't possible for the Apple TV remote but how about a harmony/ir remote?
davilla wrote:there is no API to access volume buttons on the Siri remote.
return of profiles is under review.
Thanks, I figured there wouldn't be. What about IR remotes / Harmony, do you know if it is possible to map it to those somehow? Is that anymore customisable than the apple tv remote or is it just limited to the up/down/left/right & play/pause?
I suppose one solution for switching settings easily would be what was suggested above about having two apps installed with different settings.
