4K films (non HDR) play wuth colour gamut Rec. 709

Post by quasarpod » 07 Apr 2019, 08:01

Hi,
I'm using Nvidia Shield TV with LG OLED TV. I have a mix of 4K films, those that have HDR are displayed correctly with Rec. 2020, while those without HDR are displayed with Rec. 709. Frankly, I don't know if this is correct or not, but if it's not right I'd like to know how to change it. The Shield is set to the recommended 4K 59.940Hz resolution and to YUV420 10-bit Rec. 2020.

Hoping someone can advise.

REC 2020 is only for HDR, HD movies are 709, the shield tv makes to conversion for You.

Yeah this is right.
HDR movies are Rec.2020 and non HDR movies are Rec.709 so everything is right. The shield can switch automatically between these 2 to match your source format. So no conversation is needed.
