Disable subtitles by default possible?

Post by fhall1 »

Not sure which update did this, but it has finally come to the point that I'm tired of it. It seems like most files I have, must have the subtitles integrated in some certain way that, whenever I select a title to play, the subtitles are enabled by default.

I'm not talking about "forced" subtitles - just the regular ones are enabled 99% of the time. And 98% of the time, I don't want them enabled. Using my Harmony remote I have to hit pause for the show/movie, hit down arrow to make the "subtitles/options menu" come down from the top of the screen, then select subtitles, then select again to turn off "enable". Then hit "menu" to get rid of the mini-menu, then hit play.

I'd rather just have the movie/show start playing without subtitles by default, and turn them on using the above sequence if I really want them on.

I'm running the Amber skin and I think I've looked at every MRMC setting there is and can't find one to change this behavior. Am I missing it, or is it just not possible?

Thanks!

I use the 'forced only' subtitle setting:
Settings -> Video -> Subtitles -> Preferred subtitle language = Forced only
Apple TV 4K / NVIDIA Shield Pro (2019) -> Denon X6500H 7.2.4 -> LG OLED65C9
Apple TV4K / NVIDIA Shield Pro (2019) -> Nakamichi 7.2.4 -> LG OLED77CX
Channels DVR w/ 2x HDHomeRun Prime

That indeed solved my issue - thanks!
