odd, I just took those xxx.strm files you emailed, put them on my NAS and browse and click on one.
That's why I said that I want to take my Apple TV 4K to my brothers house who has an other ISP.

First test there is, I will place the strm's on a profile directory and play it and second test, connect to my Emby domain and play from there..

At his place, I know that Emby works 100% with Provider A on his Android TV with the Emby Client connected to my domain, using my Emby strm libraries

The results are not consequent now at my place, to draw any conclusions.
Only thing that is always 100% working, is that local m3u from PVR Simple Client always plays the movie directly in MrMC.

Update:

Now at my brothers place and testing my Apple TV 4K, so different ISP and different router (DNS set to his ISP).

Results so far:

Strm playback:
Same results (sort of), needs quadruple clicks for playback to start.

Https-Emby access to my domain:
Same results (sort of), needs slow double clicks for playback to start.

Playback from m3u loaded in PVR Simple Client:
Same as at my place, works 100%.

Is their a possibility to get/spoof same network traffic for strm play, just as we have for m3u play ?

Or do you have other ideas for fine tuning strm playback with MrMC “internet access” settings ?

Any news on this ?

The Emby beta Client for Apple TV switched to FFmpeg 4.1.3 today and in there, I have no problems, playing my movies from my strm libraries from provider A.

What FFmpeg version is MrMC using internally ?

it's not an ffmpeg issue :)

Turn on component logging, enable logging for curl. debuglog will be very verbose now.
email the resulting log, there might be user/pass exposed when debugloging for curl is enabled.

We need to see why curl is not behaving like it does for me.

Just informing what changed in the Emby app, that got me 100% success rate in strm playback from Emby libraries :)
